Great classic insurance deals
MBO Insurance announces its new classic car initiative. Neil Franklin, Managing
Director, says, & we can now confidently provide for the classic car needs of the
majority of MBO members. Our new and extended facilities offer extremely competitive
collectors car rates, typically for a second vehicle used for limited mileage but
also for a variety of situations involving vehicles aged 10 or more years . Cover
is available with or without Agreed Value and, for many areas of the UK, and does
not depend upon the vehicle always being garaged. For those classic car owners who
sometimes like to take a vehicle to work, this can also often be accommodated. Premiums
can be kept to a minimum for garaging, lower mileage and restricted use and further
discounts are available for vehicles registered 25 or more years ago. Neil adds,
This development allows us to cater for most MBO members insurance needs under
one roof, whether for modern day or classic cars, and underlines our commitment
to benefit the entire membership rather than just one section . MBO members
should contact MBO Insurance on 0800 028 6463 for a free, no-obligation quotation and confirm
membership in order to benefit from this new facility for classic cars. MBO Insurance
offers a wide choice of products, traditional personal service, truly independent
insurance advice and all the ongoing support you need |

Revised SL
It looks like Mercedes is going to give its bigselling SL a makeover before the
all-new car arrives in 2013. The SL already had a slight lift in 2006, but these
new changes are likely to be more substantial. The revised car is likely to have
a new front bumper, revised air intakes and new headlights similar to those on the
CLS. The rear lights and bumper are also likely to change. Most of the SL's engine
line-up will stay the same, but expect the SL 55 AMG's 5.4-litre supercharged V8 to be replaced with the new 6.2- litre V8, creating a new SL 63 AMG. |

RNow with heated seats
You'll have to look hard to see the external differences between the
old Mercedes G-Wagen (now called G-Class) and the face-lifted version available
from this month. The only discernible change on the outside is redesigned LED-look
taillights. The interior of the G-Class has been upgraded with new instrument cluster,
four-spoke steering wheel and centre console. Mercedes' classic workhorse continues
to be refined with such new standard items as heated front seats and a 12-volt power
socket. New options include a reverse-sensing camera, a tyre-pressure monitoring
system, a sports exhaust system for the longwheelbase G500 station wagon model and
new cognac leather upholstery. Engines and body styles remain the same, ranging
from the 224- horsepower G320 CDI to the 500-hp G 55 AMG. |

Green machine
The current A-Class sets a high standard in environmental protection. Its development
was based around a concept that covers the vehicle s entire lifecycle. Over 40,000
processes were analysed from an environmental standpoint. As a result, emissions
were reduced by some 17 per cent compared with the previous model. Environment-friendly
product development also led to the increased use of recycling-friendly plastics
and natural materials. Around 21 per cent of all plastic components are produced from high-quality recycled plastics, three times higher than for the previous model,
and 26 components are made from renewable raw materials. |

Size matters
Mercedes engineers are currently developing a new luxury limousine with integrated
security for governments, businesses, monarchs and heads of state. The armoured
Pullman Limousine is based on the long version of the S 600 with a substantially
extended
wheelbase. It is designed to provide a level of roominess worthy of its
high-ranking occupants, not to mention outstanding comfort and a fully equipped
mobile office. The S 600 Guard Pullman sees Mercedes continuing its long tradition
of building large state carriages with factory-integrated special-protection features. |

World of wealth
Maybach, the luxury brand with an illustrious past, re-established just four years
ago, is adding a fourth variant to its line-up in the shape of the newly developed
62 S model. The S stands for Special and the engineers at the Sindelfingen-based
Manufaktur workshops have incorporated a wealth of special features specified by
their customers. The result is even greater travelling comfort, especially for the
passengers in the generously proportioned rear compartment. Not to mention increased
power thanks to the enhanced potency of the twelve-cylinder engine developing 450
kW/612 hp, making the new 62 S model the world s most powerful chauffeur-driven
saloon in series production. Externally there is a modified front end with redesigned
radiator grille, 20-inch spoked wheels and a modified light-cluster design. Like
the 57 S model, the new Maybach 62 S boasts lavish single-tone paintwork in black or silver, both of which are available exclusively for the S models. Alternatively,
customers can now specify a special paint finish in shimmering white. Discreet 62
S lettering adorns the front wings beneath the A pillars and the boot lid, while
a modified rear apron with two integral, trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes hints strongly
at the performance potential of the 62 S. Lavish luxury is the theme of the 62 S
interior. Applications of piano lacquer and sporty carbon or anthracite poplar create an atmosphere of dynamic elegance both in the rear compartment and in the driver s
direct field of vision and activity. High-grade leather upholstery accentuates this
overall impression. |
